A message from our founder
We are pleased that you are eager to learn more about Complementary and Alternative
Medicine (CAM).
In January, 2003, my wife, Georgia, died after suffering for eight years from the
ravaging effects of colon cancer. When she was first diagnosed, we accepted the
medical advice of her oncologist to treat the cancer with a regimen of chemotherapy
and radiation.
As time progressed we learned of a variety of other forms of treatment outside the
accepted "norm" of our health care delivery system. These included:
 |
  Yoga
  Reiki
  Herbology
  Meditation |
  Stress Management
  Acupunture
  Aromatherapy
  Tai Chi and others |
We were able to pay for these alternative therapies. And there is no doubt that
Georgia's life was improved and extended through their use.
But other persons, who also suffer from debilitating diseases, are not as fortunate.
Despite their documented effectiveness, many, if not all, of these complementary
and alternative medicine (CAM) therapies, are not paid for under current health
insurance plans.
Together, with your help, we can enrich the general well-being of everyone who
suffers from disease in our region.
Thank you for your generous help and support,
Barry Ritko, Sr.
